A luxurious country cabin for two, The Store at Wellhayes in glorious Dorset, looks out over a serene lake in a rural oasis. Enjoy the smart, minimal design, at the same time be surrounded by nature in one of the UK’s most stunning areas.

The Location

Staying at The Store at Wellhayes means enjoying both a fabulous wooded retreat away from it all, as well as being close to one of England’s best coastal regions. Beautiful Lyme Regis is a 10 minute drive away, full of lively restaurants and pubs and its stunning Jurassic coastline. Plenty of great walks, towns and villages to explore, including Bridport and its antiques market.

The Store at Wellhayes is just shy of a three hour drive from London or from Bristol around two hours. There’s a train station in Axminster and an airport in Exeter.

The sleek yet cozy feel of the cabin is great. Smart, high end design makes perfect use of the space, and raw materials provide a sense of warmth
The fully equipped kitchen is lovely, featuring a large window with a woodland view. The perfect place to cook up some local produce – as is the BBQ on the terrace
You may want to stay in bed all day given the bedroom’s inviting king sized bed and views across the lake and your private terrace – or head to the sofa and the wood burner maybe?
Wild swimming in the lake is a treat to be savored – especially if you mix it in with using the wood fired lakeside sauna at Wellhayes
Heading out for the day means serious decision making as there are simply so many choices. National Trust properties, coastal walks, stunning villages …. You get the idea

Guests are able to use the wood-fired sauna which sits on a secluded deck at the end of the lake surrounded by trees. There are three available sessions: morning, afternoon or evening with a charge of £60 made per session. These can be booked during your stay or beforehand.

James and Emma set about restoring and rescuing Wellhayes and its three properties from ruin in 2013. Their attention to detail as well as respect for the natural beauty of this oasis is what makes it so special. You can rent The Store and Wellhayes Barn together for larger groups.
