Close to the beaches of the costa del sol, but a world away, surrounded by olive and avocado groves, is this historic and stunning rustic Spanish villa with private pool. Stylish and spacious with plenty of space inside and out this makes for a retreat from the world without being remote.

The Location

Up in the hills above the crystal clear Med, on the edge of the charming white washed village of Macharaviaya, La Huerta del Angel sits in a sea of rolling green groves. You’ve privacy here, but you can also walk up to the village with its traditional restaurant in less than 5 minutes or jump in the car and be on the beach in 15.

Heading further you’ve towns like Nerja and Velez Malaga to explore as well as the fascinating cultural hub of Malaga city itself. But do too much exploring and you’re missing the point of a stay here. Once you’ve driven up the bumpy drive, unpacked and you’re sat with a vino on the terrace, you might not go anywhere.

The airport in Malaga is a 40 minute drive so taking a taxi if you really want to escape is an easy option as is hiring car for more flexibility.

As you approach the house it feels hidden away in its beautiful grounds where you’ve several terraces, hidden corners to take yourself off to and that beautiful pool
Inside the house is warm, inviting and stylish. There are beautiful design touches throughout, all of which compliment the house’s traditional architecture
Eating should form a big part of any holiday and at La Huerta del Angel there’s a stunning dining room for cooler days as well as terraces for outdoor dining. The kitchen is well equipped and there’s plenty of storage if you’re planning to hole up for a few days
When you’re here outside of spring and summer there are open fires in the dining and sitting rooms, adding to that feeling of romanticism
Despite the feel of rustic, rural luxury, you’re really well connected here and you can be on the beach eating fresh seafood, exploring the museums of Malaga or hiking in the hills in less than half an hour

Stef and Irja have a cosmopolitan European background but have chosen to make Malaga their home. They love sharing La Huerta del Angel with guests, but it’s very much their family holiday home too, which is reflected in the attention to detail throughout this beautiful Spanish house.
