On the outskirts of Vejer de la Frontera, down on the southerly tip of Spain, this gentlemen’s residence surrounded by 60 acres of stunning farmland, is now a stunning boutique guest house. Bright and elegant rooms and amazing views make this a retreat you won’t want to leave.

The Location

The estate in which La Casa del Torero sits belongs to a famous bullfighter, from which the house takes its name, and is a rolling green oasis of tranquillity. Wildlife and cattle are you closest neighbours, but head out and you’ve foodie heaven Vejer de la Frontera close by, plus the wild and windswept beaches of Spain’s most southerly tip, including trendy Tarifa, as easy trips. If you’re looking for activities there’s fantastic walking trails, horse riding and, of course, water sports nearby.

Jerez and Gibraltar airports are less than an hour, and Malaga slightly further. Makes a perfect part of a road trip taking in other Further Afield partners.

La Casa del Torero has a unique feel to it; a mix of private home, intimate guest house but also boutique hotel in its service level
We love the style of the rooms at La Casa del Torero. Tiled floors keep you cool in the summer, but the bright colours and sumptuous fabrics give them a warm and inviting vibe
Every morning an a la carte breakfast is available including daily homemade pastries (pancakes, cupcakes), nice selection of teas, fresh juices from the orchard and meats from the region. Evening meals can also be provided
The suite has its own sitting room which makes for a proper retreat
This area offers the chance to explore a different Spain. A more wild and authentic Spain with amazing coastline and lesser known towns and cities to explore
Vejer de la Frontera is fast becoming a foodie’s Mecca, with superb restaurants open year round and great culinary treats including the amazing Annie B’s Spanish Kitchen (link to https://www.anniebspain.com) for classes and tours
The terraces around the house have great views – from which you can see Morrocco on a good day – and sunsets here can be especially lovely

He evolved artistically quickly as “Cuisinier de la république” cooking for ministers and prestigious guests and now he’s delighted to prepare traditional dishes; from “huevos con patatas” (eggs and ranch fries) to the best Atlantic bluefin tuna!
