Rural Welsh Haven

In an enchanting rural setting is this converted stable block, now a stunning (very) dog friendly Welsh holiday cottage for four. Serene and peaceful there’s also great walking nearby as well as beautiful coastline and ancient Aberystwyth and quaint New Quay.

The Location

Set in three acres shared with the owners – but with plenty of privacy – there’s a true sense of retreating from the world, but there’s also a Cwtch café/shop and pub offering food close by.  An enclosed garden makes bringing your dog super easy and there are loads of great walks to explore with them too, including lovely waterfall walks in the Hafod estate. The nearby Ellan Valley also has a network of walks through its bleak but eerily beautiful landscape used to film Hinterland. Aberaeron with its picture postcard and colourful building and harbour is just 45 minutes away.

It’s a two and a half hour drive from Cardiff or Birmingham and there are good rail links to Aberystwyth. However, from old mines to beautiful gardens, castles and stunning coastline a car helps to truly get the best of this region.

  • The total escape that this cottage offers. Peaceful and relaxed
  • The house is stylishly furnished with a sense of comfort so you feel instantly at ease
  • The grounds are great for two and four legged children plus an adult bonus of the four man hot tub
  • Both bathrooms being ensuite adds to the hotel vibe (and means no queue)
  • A short walk to a pub serving food can never be a bad thing
  • Visit nearby Devils Bridge, which is fascinating anyway, but more so if you’re a fan of the Hinterland series
  • Two double bedrooms (one of which can be a twin) each ensuite
  • Open plan living area with defined kitchen, dining and sitting room spaces
  • Wood burner in the living room and French doors to the garden from the well fitted kitchen.
  • Hot tub in the private and enclosed gardens where there’s plenty of parking
  • Additional items available if you’re travelling with children, including cot and stair gates
  • Wisteria Cottage is a very dog friendly holiday cottage, with space for up to three and the owners’ garden for them to explore
  • Tablet provided with subscriptions to masses of magazines plus The Times newspaper daily and at weekends
  • Wifi, sound system and large screen TV with SKY

Karl and Joseph moved to the area 6 years ago where they set about converting the old stables to a luxury self catering property. They then started renovating their own house that was originally a Minors Managers House, becoming the main Doctors house from1890 through to the 1950s where it became a family home after that. The grounds / garden are an ongoing project as Karl is a retired gardner.
