RURAL RELAXATION

In a stunning setting with breathtaking views across the Wye Valley, this contemporary nine bedroom country house is a short drive from the quirky town of books, Hay On Wye with its famous book festival. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery of mountains and rivers by heading off by canoe, bike or on foot – plus a myriad of other activities on offer like a private tour foraging Westbrook hedgerows or gin making with local Adele Nozedar – before making the most of this amazing house for up to 18.

Weddings & Celebrations

Take the house and hold you intimate celebration. There’s the option of a sit down for 20 people or more if you’d prefer a more informal event. The kitchen is perfect for caterers and Kari works with some great local providers. Check out their site for more information.

The Location

In the middle of the countryside but just five minutes from cosmopolitan Hay-on-Wye and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Westbrook Court is a tranquil rural retreat.  An easy base from which you can enjoy the HAY LITERARY FESTIVAL, the ABERGAVENNEY FOOD FESTIVAL, the BRECON JAZZ FESTIVAL or the HEREFORDSHIRE ART WEEK (all events scattered throughout the year) or simply head off for the hills of Hay Bluff or the River Wye.  There are also some great places to eat as part of the “great food movement” that has swept across the region.

Westbrook Court, set in the picturesque Golden Valley is three hours from West London by train or car along the M4.  Also just an hour from Cardiff or the Cotswolds by car.  Remember to embrace the hour of views and the (un)winding roads once you have left the M4 long behind.

  • An opportunity to relax in style and comfort in one of the most beautiful undiscovered regions of the UK. We love the bespoke statement lights and lamps and the mix of vintage and luxury
  • The outdoor spaces are perfect for get togethers on a warmer evening, with fire pit, gazebo and five acres of lovely gardens
  • The communal rooms are great for coming together, but the layout means that there’s space for everyone to have their own corner to retreat to when required
  • Professional catering is available if you don’t fancy sorting out all those dinners
  • This would make a brilliant retreat space or simply for a massive get together!
  • From canoeing down the River Wye to striding out across the hills, pony trekking, cider tasting or hopping on a bike you will find something to match your pace and energy levels
  • Down the road in Hay on Wye there’s Booths cinema – arthouse, current releases and live streams from National Theatre
  • Borrow the local ordinance maps and enjoy field walks right from the back door in any direction – Merbach Hill and Little Mountain and are on the doorstep. Or stomp up Hay Bluff, the Begwyns or zoom down to Pen y Fan. Being dog-friendly (see Kari’s T&Cs on pooches) means Fido gets to share these great walks

  • Beautiful farmhouse with four bedrooms (and three bathrooms) and a separate guest annex with five ensuite studio rooms
  • There’s a single sofa bed and four camp beds also available
  • One of the studios has near level access from the carpark and large walk in shower with seat available, making it a good option for those with accessibility requirements
  • Double height dining hall and three sitting rooms, all beautifully furnished
  • Brilliant kitchen, perfect for you or the professional caterers to cook up a storm
  • Outside facilities include 8 person hot tub, fire pit, gazebo and huge garden, all with views. Plus there are two rustic barns with festoon lights
  • For a little extra luxury enjoy in-house treatments by a qualified beautician, massages or facials
  • Secure bike and kayak store plus umbrellas and torches
  • Dogs welcome (with some rules of etiquette!)

Chris and Kari moved up from London in 2011 to realise their dream of designing and creating high quality holiday accommodation in this beautiful location. Their combined skill set of business travel and property development has given them the innovation and inspiration to create the stables at Westbrook Court.  Kari also has an interior design sideline that specialises in refurbishing country houses with a modern twist. Having travelled widely themselves, they understand the importance of offering a warm and friendly welcome and providing all the little touches to make your stay a relaxing and enjoyable experience, coupled with lots of local knowledge and the right contacts.
