Stylish, budget Welsh cottage one or two

Part of an ancient Welsh farmhouse, this private, stylish studio space, perfect for two adults offers a rural, budget friendly escape in stunning scenery.

The Location

Head down a long, pot holed but beautiful farm track and you’ll come to this little spot of Welsh seclusion. Part of Daniel and Jemma’s house, this compact but stylish studio is the perfect retreat for two, as well as a jumping off point for exploring wonderful Wales.

Newport is just down the road and is an incredibly picturesque coastal village. The village has a smattering of places to eat and drink but you’re really here for the scenery, with amazing beaches and great walks, including the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

Getting here isn’t the easiest but that’s one of the reasons we love it and we promise it’s totally worth it. Nearest train stations are at Fishguard harbour or Clynderwen, from which transfers can be arranged. If you’re driving it’s about two hours from Cardiff, three hours from Bristol or five hours from London.

  • This is a small space but it has been designed to maximise that space and it feels well laid out and has everything you’d need for a few days escape
  • The style is modern and stylish whilst tying with the traditional style of the house
  • The gardens and land surrounding the house are buzzing – literally – with wildlife and you feel a long way from 21st century hassles
  • There’s a private terrace at the front of the studio for your use, but expect to see your hosts and their family (and dog) enjoying their corner of paradise too
  • Daniel and Gemma provide a healthy stack of firewood for the burner, ensuring you’ll be toasty as during your stay
  • The seclusion here means that star gazing is almost obligatory
  • Last minute stays are discounted – check out their T&Cs
  • Studio space with sofas, table and chairs, kitchenette and double bed around the corner
  • Shower room and entrance hall for muddy boots
  • Small private patio, which is part of the owner’s gardens
  • TV with Apple TV and DVD player
  • There’s a piano if you fancy tickling the ivories during your stay

Daniel and Jemma Slade-Davies are your hosts here, along with their three small children. They’re artistic, experts on the area, incredibly respectful of their guests privacy and supremely helpful (they’re even light the wood burner if you need assistance). They also own Nantwen, another Further Afield property.
