Launceston Farm Cottages

Nr Blandford Forum, Dorset, England

These two luxury cottages are in the heart of one of the country’s finest Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From the stylish bateau bath in your own private courtyard to the extravagant bed and Cordon Bleu ‘heat and eat’ meals on offer, these rural Dorset escapes are the perfect place to unwind.

The Location

The two cottages, The Bothy and Flint, are located in the grounds of the lavish country retreat of the LAUNCESTON FARM in the heart of the Dorset countryside, five miles from Blandford Forum.

Within 45 minutes’ drive you can find fossils on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, swim at Lulworth Cove or simply stroll along the coastal paths and enjoy the sea breeze.  Or leave the car keys on the table and head out on foot to explore the countryside, dropping into one of the fine local pubs for a pint or two.

  • the utter luxury of star gazing in a steaming bath after a long day out and about.
  • the treat of delicious home-made meals from the Farm – especially knowing that most of the ingredients are lovingly hand-reared and grown within a stone’s throw of your table
  • the easy luxury of this romantic hideaway – with all the attention to detail that Launceston Farm is known for
  • the location – whether you choose to explore the rolling Dorset coastline or simply stay at home, wander in the walled garden and around the organic farm, or just read a book in the bath, there are plenty of ways to wile away your days
  • the Tarrant Valley is an undiscovered gem with thatch cottages and water meadows. There are stunning walks straight from the door and you can take in a visit to one of the local pubs or farm shops.  The farm is organic and because they put a strong emphasis on conservation the flora and fauna is pretty spectacular.  Don’t miss one of Jim’s farm tours when he is around
  • and don’t forget that both The Bothy and Flint Cottage are dog friendly too so bring Fido
  • building on the success of LAUNCESTON FARM, The Bothy and Flint Cottage are equally charming, romantic and luxurious in their furnishings and feel
  • made for two (and with adults-only allowed), the cottages have everything you need to truly take a break – you can order ‘heat-and-eat’ meals, organic breakfasts and BBQ packs from the Farm so you don’t need to think about planning meals – or cooking
  • the larder is well stocked with basics including home-made preserves and there is wood for the BBQ and wood burner
  • on a warm evening, the copper bateau bath can be filled with bubbles in the flint and brick courtyard and you can toast the good times under the stars – looking out at the meadows through shuttered ‘windows’ in the courtyard walls

Sarah is the enterprising farmer who has lovingly restored The Bothy and Flint cottage alongside the Grade II listed Georgian farmhouse where she was born.  With her own quirky charm, Sarah has created these affordable indulgent, rural escapes – and it’s a family affair.  Her son Jimi has come back to run the farm and her daughter Eve is the gardener and forager, with an impressive local knowledge.
