Stunning French village guest house
Tucked away in the heart of a beautiful and historic village in the Calvados region of Normandy is this stylish and highly individual guest house. Each of its five rooms are lovingly crafted and there are communal areas including a basement spa.
The Location
Beaumont-en-Auge is one of the most enchanting and traditional villages in France. Peppered with histroric churches and colourful half timbered houses it is truly beautiful, but it’s also home to modern life and has a great range of galleries, cafés and resturants.
The surrounding countryside is lovely and if you want to get to the coast it’s an easy day trip as are cities like Lisieuz and Deauville.
Take the train from Paris or fly to Deauville. A car makes exploring easy but you could explore without one.
- The village of Beaumont-en-Auge is simply beautiful. Turning each corner reveals an Instagram worthy view. Old houses. Cobbled alleyways. Pavement cafes. It’s as French as it comes
- Maison Mouche is an intimate and welcoming place to stay, designed to feel like a family home you’re lucky enough to have been invited to stay in
- Exploring this region offers big open spaces and big beaches, ideal for losing yourself and finding yourself at the same time
- Elodie has used luxury and bespoke fabrics and wallpapers in each of the lovely rooms giving the house a real sense of individuality, along with unique pieces of furniture she has been sourcing from flea markets throughout the region.
- We love the heavily beamed Mouche room up in the loft with an open bathroom and huge cosy bed facing the green valley view.
- Five rooms (3 deluxe rooms and 2 family suites) in a beautiful half timbered, historic village house which can accommodate 14 pax in total
- Each is en suite and has plenty of antiques and are decorated with lovingly curated wall treatments and fabrics
- The Deluxe Terrace Room has its own, fully private outside space
- Papillon has a sofa bed as does the two-roomed Abeille
- The house, which can be rented as whole or as B&B rooms, has a communal sitting room and kitchen, as well as an intimate library x cards game room
- Breakfast is provided in your room should you be tempted – but equally you can head down to the onsite café or wander out for a French café-croissant start to the day
- Maison Mouche has a spa in the basement where you can book treatments (like massages and facials) or spend time in the sauna, or attend a fantastic yoga and/or Pilates class
- Each room has a mini fridge, kettle, and coffee machine and the house has WIFI throughout
- Maison Mouche welcomes families, but all those stairs and twisting passageways makes it less than ideal for those less mobile
A sister and brother in love with their village, which has seen several generations of their family grow up… Their love affair with a house they’ve passed so often in almost 40 years is obvious.
