A stunning rural escape with beautiful interiors, perfectly located for exploring the coast and highlights of Lower Normandy.

The Location

La Thérèsienne really is a great spot to explore this region and immerse yourself in French culture and lifestyle. There is incredible hiking, wild swimming and beaches across the region, with some quite literally on your doorstep.

Pont-Farcy, on the banks of the River Vire, is just down the road and offers one local restaurant and a snackbar. In larger cities nearby you have a selection of various restaurants (count on a twenty-minute drive). You also have Mont Saint-Michel less than an hour away with its cobbled streets and iconic townscape. Head further and you have Bayeux and its famous tapestry or Caen with the beautiful abbeys of Saint-Étienne and Sainte-Trinité.

This is an area closely associated with the battles of WW2 and there are museums and exhibitions in various towns and cities and the beaches of the D-Day landings an easy trip from here. Steven and Cristoph are excellent guides and can help you plan the best way to use your time depending on your interests.

From the UK, take the ferry to Cherbourg or Ouistreham (an hour and half’s drive) or the Eurostar to Calais (approx. four hours) and you’re set up to explore the area by car. You could take the train from Paris to nearby Vire but you do really need a car for a stay at La Thérèsienne.

Steven and Cristoph, both from Belgium, fell in love with La Thérèsienne and its surrounding valley at first sight, which was by chance on their way home from holiday. With a passion and experience in interior design they immediately saw how they could make it their “new nest”. They quickly decided they wanted to share this sense of well-being with others, and so the idea for La Thérèsienne was born.
