The Location
High up on the hill, Hotel Villa Ducale looks down to the coast and is accessed by a picturesque mountain road. Nothing prepares you for the view when you cross the gates of the hotel. Surrounded by beautiful patios the emphasis is definitely on relaxation and calm, but 15 minutes walk (downhill) and you’re in the centre of bustling Taormina with its winding streets, shops and restaurants. Mount Etna is also close by, as are the beaches and coves of this dramatic coastline.
The nearest international airport for Taormina is Catania, just an hour´s drive away, Palermo city and its airport are around three hours away. Alternatively you can get the ferry from Villa San Giovanni or Reggio de Calabria. For a unique experience you can take the train that comes off the mainland, onto the ferry, then onto tracks in Sicily without even leaving your seat!
