This lovely Yorkshire country cottage, with sandy beaches and great pub within walking distance, makes for an idyllic staycation retreat, perfect for a weekend break or longer stay. Explore the wider area or stay local and totally switch off.

The Location

Lythe is a sweet village, just inland from busier coastal towns. There’s a pub serving good food, a local shop and it sits smack bang on some great walking routes – brilliant if you’re holidaying with a canine friend. On your doorstep you can visit Sandsend and its sandy beach or head to Whitby – an historic and beautiful coastal town with its piers, Gothic architecture,
the abbey and super restaurants with plenty of local seafood. Robin Hood’s Bay is another top tip to experience the wildand rugged history of this beautiful coastline.

There are train and bus options for getting here, but not as easy as heading to Chapel Cottage by car.

Chapel Cottage really is beautifully renovated, with a lovely mix of old and new, with traditional features married with modern features
The cottage is ideal whatever the weather, with plenty of cozy spaces to unwind inside plus sunny and spacious gardens for kinder weather
That garden is also fully enclosed so if you’re bringing a canine friend they’ve lots of safe space to explore – plus they’ll love you even more after discovering the sandy beaches they get to run free on
If the outdoor life is for you then you’ll love it here! Walking options include a stretch of The National Coastal Path which runs past the cottage, or head to the sandy beach at Sandsend for sea swimming, kayaking or surfing
There are loads of beautiful towns and villages close by to explore including Whitby with its Gothic connections and superb eateries and Robin Hood’s Bay with its scenic harbour and rock pools to discover
