The Location
Casa Shelly is located on a quiet pedestrian street in the centre of traditional but welcoming Vejer de la Frontera. The bustling and picturesque town has some fantastic dining options and is a 20-minute drive to many stunning beaches along the Costa de la Luz, including Tarifa and the bays between – think stretches of unspoilt beaches. Nearby you’ve also towns like Medina to explore as well as Jerez and its sherry bodegas.
If arriving by air, Jerez Airport is a 1-hour drive away; Gibraltar and Seville airports 1.5 hours. The drive from Malaga is around 2.5 hours and very easily navigated.
- The design elements of the guesthouse are lovely. Typical Spanish details such as decorative tiles are blended with a minimal modern look, resulting in a serene feel
- The garden patio is the perfect cosy spot to unwind with a book and some fabulous wine
- Guest rooms here are unique, and keeping with the overall feel of the property are cosy with a touch of chic. Private sun-filled terraces, luxurious en suites, beamed ceilings and beautiful tiled floors are some of the highlights
- Being in the centre of Vejer de la Frontera means being moments away from the action, with lively tapas bars and cafes on your doorstep
- Casa Shelly’s proximity to the coast is a huge draw. Some of the most gorgeous and uncrowded sandy beaches in Europe are a 20-minute drive away
- Inland Vejer de la Frontera is also close to swathes of beautiful, protected countryside with several Natural Parks to explore
- Coffee, teas, and light snacks are on offer for guests in the kitchen, making the stay here feel more like one at a chic friend’s holiday home than a guesthouse. Breakfast isn’t served, but there are great cafes surrounding Casa Shelly serving great coffee and breakfasts
- There are seven rooms of varying sizes, most with either terraces or small balconies
- All rooms are en suite, with clean and modern bathrooms
- All rooms have fans and air con making this a year round destination
- There’s a communal salon and a plant filled Andalucian style patio, perfect for breakfast

Chris and Javier purchased this 250 year-old house in 2012 and after a three-year refurbishment project, opened the doors to Casa Shelly in the summer of 2015. Chris is of Anglo Scandinavian origin and Javier is from the north of Spain. Both moved to Vejer after having lived most of their adult lives in Barcelona.
