Fantastic holiday villas with private pools

There’s something rather lovely about a holiday villa with a private pool. Maybe it’s about sipping martinis on a blow up unicorn (plastic receptacle of course), skinny dipping under the stars, or simply not having to share it with anyone else. Whatever it is we love it and although it might feel like summer’s a way off, check out our pick, some of which are new to Further Afield for 2020, and get the bags packed.

Casa Blanca Maro, Malaga

Sleeps: 4 + 2
What’s there: This striking Spanish townhouse is in the heart of the traditional seaside town of Maro, close to Malaga and Nerja. The outside gives no clue to the sleek, modern, open plan space you find inside. Two bedrooms are in the main house and the casita at the bottom of the garden is available for two more if required. Both the house and casita overlook the deep plunge pool, which is a delight in the summer. Head out and the town’s sandy beach is less than 15 minutes walk and if you jump in the car this coast is dotted with beautiful and unspoilt coves.
