Fabulous French B&Bs

A rather nice alternative to jumping on a plane is to think about driving down to Folkestone and use the Eurotunnel to access a little slice of Frenchness. With increased flexibility this year it’s a stress free option.

Take the car and explore the varied and beautiful countryside and fill the boot with wine and cheese as you go – just to extend the holiday once you’re home. Here’s six great boutique guest houses you could drive to in France this summer. It might be a full day’s journey but the destinations make it totally worthwhile.

1. Cuq en Terrasses, SW France

Take in stunning countryside as you cross the country and arrive in lovely Cuq Toulza by evening. Once you’ve arrived you can simply settle in and enjoy this stunning setting and partake of dinner in the great restaurant, a day by the pool and book into the sauna for a total recharge.

Eclectic. Bohemian. Beautiful. Three words you could use to describe the design and ambience of Lora and Rob’s corner of France. Every slice of this French Manor House is Instagram ready. But more than that it’s also ready to make you feel relaxed and at home as soon as you arrive. The fact that there’s a licensed bar here will certainly help with said relaxation as will Rob’s carefully curated wine cellar.
