Brook Farm – The Perfect Place To Celebrate

We first chatted to owners, Stephen and Steven, as part of our ‘Meet the Owners’ series when they gave us the inside on Hop Pickers’ House – a romantic bolthole for two nestled in the idyllic Brook Farm (https://www.brookfarmberrington.com). It became clear to them that Brook Farm was the perfect place for a celebration and they now work with the very best local suppliers to help you to create the best day possible in an intimate, beautiful, rural setting.

In our previous FA blog, you talked about how you’d helped to arrange two marriage proposals – Brook Farm is obviously a romantic place! Did it feel like a natural progression to start organising special celebrations?

Yes, very much so. Brook Farm is a wonderfully romantic place and since we moved here in September 2016, our self-catering holiday cottage – Hop Pickers’ House – has hosted two marriage proposals, nine honeymoons, as well as many anniversary and birthday celebrations. We’ve helped guests plan romantic picnics, rose petal and light trails, surprise meals and even treasure hunts (finding a nearby windmill was quite a challenge…..!)

And last summer, we held our own celebration at Brook Farm, marking the 10-year anniversary of our civil partnership and it was just perfect.

Why do you think Brook Farm is such a wonderful place for a celebration?

It’s the perfect romantic country retreat, embedded in the majesty of the quintessentially English countryside. Brook Farm is set in its own little valley, which creates an immediate intimacy and there’s a wonderful mix of our beautiful garden, open meadows, hideaway woodland dell and amazing views.

It works well for intimate celebrations, as well as for larger parties of up to 100 guests. Our outdoor and indoor spaces are really versatile, including a large conservatory with views of the Worcestershire countryside, intimate outdoor seating areas, and space for a marquee.

We’ve created natural ceremony spaces – seating under the canopy of a graceful willow, chandeliers and an outdoor screen in the trees.

Brook Farm can also sleep up to 16 guests – with exclusive use of our Grade II listed farmhouse and Hop Pickers’ House – perfect for immediate family or even all your guests.

Tell us a bit about your approach to planning an event at Brook Farm

We’ve both got experience in organising events – large and small – in our earlier careers, so it all seems quite natural. It’s all about creating a special, personal and unique celebration that guests will be talking about for years to come.  We try to capture the desired spirit and feel of an event and build the practicalities around that.

We don’t “package” our events – we like to do something different and work with people to style it just the way they want it. We will of course suggest a few magical touches and show how our natural spaces can be used to create something wonderful.

We have a network of superb local suppliers, including the best local celebrant who made our 10th anniversary very special.

Beautiful Brook Farm

What’s your favourite part about helping people to organise a celebration?

We really enjoy sharing our space and seeing how much joy it brings to others. It’s so satisfying seeing how an event evolves and how all the different elements come together to create something truly special – and how people bring their own personalities and stamp their own style onto an event.

Where do you get your inspiration?

Our inspiration also comes from the beautiful, natural spaces around us – all the time thinking about how different features might be incorporated into events. We draw inspiration from the people celebrating at Brook Farm by putting ourselves in their shoes.

We also get lots of inspiration from each other. We’re always sharing ideas and our combined skills are a great mix of creativity, planning and just plain old getting things done.

Evening fairy lights

You have some beautiful, natural spaces to enjoy at Brook Farm. Do you have your own favourite spot?

Can we have two?! Out on our meadow, edged with apple trees is a perfect spot to relax at the end of the day and watch the sun set. Our second is anywhere along the brook that runs through Brook Farm. It’s where we walk with our dogs every morning. They love the water and it provides us with great thinking time.

What’s the best part about living where you do?

We’re in beautiful countryside and feel very close to nature and the wildlife around us. We really experience the changes in the seasons here and that’s exhilarating.

Some of the prettiest towns and villages in the country are close by. We’re just a few miles from Ludlow famously described by John Betjeman as “the loveliest town in England” and he’s absolutely right. The area has a reputation for some of the best food and drink, with lots of fantastic local producers, markets and restaurants – including our very own Brook Farm apple juice!
