The Elm Tree

Spilsby, Lincolnshire

Charming Georgian sanctuary

Beautifully renovated, The Elm Tree is all about spoiling yourself. This gay-owned B&B has luxurious touches throughout married with the friendly and charming service you look for from a traditional English country hideaway.

Tucked away on the edge of the medieval market town of Spilsby, The Elm tree is a great base for exploring the Lincolnshire Wolds. The romantic ruins of Bolingbroke Castle are on the doorstep, with plenty of beautiful country towns and the coast beyond, all making easy day trips.

The nearest train station is a taxi ride away – you’ll get the most out of your stay with a car to shoot around the country lanes.

About The Owners

Jonathan and Chris have masses of hospitality experience and it shows throughout The Elm Tree, not least in their super friendly welcome. Having previously run a nearby tea shop (hence their perfectly honed cake making), they opened The Elm Tree in 2016 and the B&B was awarded numerous awards in its first year. Their approach is resolutely one of warm old-fashioned hospitality.

  • The themed rooms are individual in their style and character, but all are beautifully decorated with antiques – including a four poster in one - and all have en suites stocked with Neal’s Yard toiletries
  • Wandering the beautifully preserved streets of nearby Horncastle – stopping off to root through the numerous antique shops (one of our favorite things ever…)
  • The ample breakfasts and sublime afternoon teas are particularly lovely at The Elm Tree, with an emphasis on traditional, local - if not homemade - fayre
  • A good choice of places for evening meals nearby – with excellent advice offered by your hosts
  • Blowing the cobwebs away on the endless, secluded sandy beach at Anderby Creek, 30 minutes away

  • Four rooms of various sizes, including one which can be a twin
  • All rooms are en-suite – only opened in 2016 the bathrooms are lovely
  • Freeview TV and in-built DVD players along with tea and coffee in each room
  • Wifi is accessible throughout the house
  • Fido is welcome to stay – he’ll love Anderby Creek
  • The communal sitting and dining rooms are lovely and make the most of the views across the newly landscaped gardens
  • Full house rentals are available as are functions
