Location
Shakespeare House boutique bed & breakfast is situated on the outskirts of the rural village of Grendon Underwood in the Vale of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. The house is set back from the village road within its own beautiful grounds which include a restored parterre flower garden.
Shakespeare House is perfectly situated for exploring other nearby historic houses and gardens which include the home of the Rothschild family, Waddesdon Manor, The National Trust’s Claydon House, Stowe House and park and Blenheim Palace. Oxford is 20 minutes by car, and Stratford upon Avon an hour.

Nick Hunter and Roy Elsbury are your hosts. Both have a professional background in property development and interior design, no surprises then that Shakespeare House is as wonderful as this.

- The gardens are wonderful, even better when they are enjoyed with afternoon tea served on the terrace. As delicious as the house, tea consists of selection of finger sandwiches, scones and cakes, all home made and of course, a wide selection of Fortnum & Mason teas.
- The proximity to Waddesdon Manor with the house and garden worthy of their own separate visits, as well as Oxford with the World famous Ashmolean Museum and Bodleian Library.
- Boutique bed & breakfast. Five individual and gorgeous guest bedrooms: The Shakespeare Suite (the most grand); the Theseus Room; The Oberon; Titania’s Bower; and, Puck’s Rooms. Each room has a queen-sized bed; Titania’s Bower having a contemporary style four poster. Crisp luxurious linens abound including brand names such as Frette, Versace and Ralph Lauren. All rooms have either private or en suite luxury bathrooms with either bath or shower, some have both.
- Free wifi is available throughout the house. All rooms have modern flat screen remote control colour tv’s and well stocked hospitality trays.
- A spacious communal drawing room with a magnificent Inglenook fireplace.
- Light and bright Morning Room where breakfast can be enjoyed looking out on to the garden. A comprehensive breakfast menu which uses the finest local seasonal produce where possible, home made organic bread and seasonal fruits.
- Afternoon tea and dinner are also available upon request. Tea is served in the drawing room, secluded garden or morning room, and dinner is served in elegant and refined dining room with its stunning open fireplace.
