Maison Centrale

Ferrals-les-Corbières, Montpellier, Southern France

Unmistakably French; chic, elegant, rustic

Once a cottage where wine pickers would come and stay during the harvest, Maison Centrale is now a perfect French retreat. Carefully restored, it’s a beautiful mix of styles and influences; antique beds, reclaimed tiles, old school desks and 1970´s bucket chairs all work in harmony together. There’s a tree shaded private courtyard where you can sip on a pastiche whilst reading your book or cook something fresh on the outdoor grill. A house full of history without denying you any 21st century comforts.

Location

Just 25 minutes from Mediterranean coast you are within easy reach of the beach. Maison Centrale is in the centre of Ferrals-les-Corbières with a bakery (fresh baguettes for breakfast), grocers, bar and even high end En Catimini.

The nearest airports are Carcassone, Toulouse or Perpignan all approximately 90 minutes drive away. A little bit further you could be across the border in Spain for a paella lunch then back to France for a steak frites dinner!

About The Owners

Owned and restored by London-based couple Andrew and Ian, the house is a perfect marriage of their love of an escape from every day life, but also their passion for mid-century design (Andrew is a dealer and writer on the topic). They and their son Nathan spend their time between the UK, France and the US.

  • The south facing private courtyard and outdoor grill for long evening dinners
  • Snuggle in front of the fire in the evening over the cooler months
  • Whilst rural there’s a village outside the front door so you’re not remote

  • The unique mix of antique and modern furniture and fittings
  • Great for kids; not only do they have heaps of space outside, but their own mezzanine level at the top of the house which feels a bit like a den!

  • Sleeps six in three bedrooms across three floors
  • Open plan kitchen (with Gaggenau appliances) and living space
  • Two bathrooms (both with showers)
  • WIFI throughout
  • Fully fitted kitchen
