The Location

Hotel Kungsträdgården – The King’s Garden Hotel – is an elegant 18^th century building in the centre of the city, opposite the King’s Garden Park. The park plays host to events throughout the year including a Christmas Market and an ice rink in the winter months and classical concerts in the summer. It is a great place to sit, relax and watch the folk of Stockholm go by.

Stockholm is a very walkable and cycleable city and the Old Town (Gamla Stan) is just a 5 to 10 minute walk away. The creative and funky Sofo district is easily reached on the underground in 15 minutes – the nearest underground station is two minutes walk away. The feeling of intimacy. This feels like a much smaller hotel than it actually is
Brasserie Makalös with its French inspired menu, is a very stylish but relaxed place to enjoy some of the best food being served in the city.

Stockholm, situated on 14 islands, is famous for it high quality of life and its very tolerant and open society. It was “gay friendly” before the term was invented so there is no real need for a gaybourhood because everywhere and everyone is gay friendly

While there are 94 rooms in this hotel it feels like there are far fewer. Each room is individually decorated so there is nothing ‘standard’ in the way they look
There are several room sizes ranging from standard King Superior de Luxe to Single rooms. They are all unique in some way but are all light and spacious with high ceilings, glittering chandeliers, stripped wooden floors and an 18^th century Gustavian style
All rooms have flatscreen TVs, Wifi, bathrobes, coffee & tea, minibar, bathroom products, room service plus concierge
There is one disabled access room on the ground floor, but much of the hotel is not ideal for getting around in a wheelchair
Brasserie Makalös is a beautiful light filled space serving excellent French dishes and a bar serving equally delicious cocktails!
There’s also a great gym for your pre-cocktail workout

Jörgen has worked in hotels for many years. He led the team of designers and builders that created Hotel Stureplan which was previously on Further Afield. After Stureplan closed Jörgen, along with his team, moved across the city and opened Hotel Kungsträdgården – The King’s Garden Hotel. Jörgen also has strong links with the famous Ice Hotel and Ski Resorts Björkliden and Riksgränsen in Northern Sweden.
