Inspira santa marta hotel

Lisbon, Portugal

Urban Oasis

Kick back and relax at this beautiful contemporary hotel with small spa in the heart of cosmopolitan Lisbon.  Designed around the guiding principles of Feng Shui the hotel offers tranquility as well as style and comfort.  If that is not enough to make you relax the knowledge that the hotel has award winning eco credentials may just do the trick. Without doubt this is a perfect place to stay for a guilt free, indulgent break on one of Europe's most vibrant cities. 2016 saw updates to the bar and restaurant making them even more beautiful...

Location

This restful boutique hotel is in the heart of old Lisbon, only 10 minutes walk to the centre of the city and round the corner from the the beautiful Avenida da Liberdade - with its cafes and designer shops.  The airport is a quick 10-15 minute taxi ride.

  • Great design and a clear commitment to the environment – sustainability and style can coexist. They have used environmentally friendly materials like cork (Portugal is the world’s leading cork grower) and wood. All the lamps used in the hotel use LED Technology and they use only ‘green’ electricity. Well being and harmony are central to everything they do. The décor and organisation of all the rooms are rooted in Feng Sui principles. Match your mood to your room.
  • Being in the heart of a throbbing city but staying in a nature inspired space. We walked to most places but you can hop in a very affordable taxi ordered by the hotel and be in most places very quickly.
  • Lisbon. What a fantastic city. Check out this website if you were in any doubt about how ‘gay friendly’ this city is. You can easily spend a weekend in Lisbon and not sratch the surface. Some of the things that we really liked included: Roof top cocktails with a view at the Tivoli Hotel which is just around the corner from the Inspira Santa Marta, a day trip by train (40 minutes) to the lovely seaside town of Cascais where we ate at the fabulous roof top terrace cafe - House of Wonders, the fish market where all the fishmongers are women and our trip to the smart suberb of Belem (15 minutes on the train) with galleries and museums.
  • There is fantastic food to be had in Lisbon but you have to track it down but the good stuff isn't much more expensive than the not so good food.
  • Very friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel.
  • The breakfast buffet is simply amazing.

  • Contemporary hotel: 89 rooms and suites. Different categories ranging from the ‘Lisbon’ through to uptown rooms, lofts and Spa Suites. Each room or suite reflects one of five natural elements. Choose from ‘Earth’ if you are seeking peace, comfort and security through to ‘Water’ if you are seeking relaxation and rejuvenation.  A smart ensuite bathroom behind a smart glass partition with separate toilet. Slippers and bathrobes and Organic bathroom products.
  • Lots of wonderful technology including different light settings from ‘relax’ to ‘welcome’, free Wifi, surround sound and LCD screens for viewing your play and plug in devices.
  • Their Urban Bar offers the space to have a drink before you head out into the night made all the more special in winter when the log fire is lit. Heavenly.
  • A Mediterranean Brasserie restaurant – ‘Open’  - serves healthy and tasty locally sourced dishes like grilled Barrosã PDO Veal medallion from north Portugal with humus and mint. They also offer a range of different foodie activities including wine tasting, and cookery demos and workshops.
  • The indulgent spa, ‘The Retreat’, has six treatment rooms, sauna, steam bath and Jacuzzi while the fitness room has all you need to maintain your gym regime.
  • Other spaces for your use include the chic eat and meet bar with fireplace which displays the work of local artists, the cosy Chiado lounge, library corner and the games room (pool, video games and board games).
  • Car parking and full business services for those on business.

Douglas Streatfield, February 2011

As it was a special event/anniversary we had booked a suite - a “Fire” suite. There was a fabulous large bed, HD television, plenty of storage space, walk in shower and a rather impressive bath in between the bedroom and the open plan bathroom. Everything is modern, clean and chic without being cold. In the lobby and bar there are lots of interesting shapes, colours and furniture. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Food is of high quality, organic and the service is the right balance of friendliness and leaving you to to get on and enjoy yourself. It’s the nicest hotel we’ve stayed at for a long while, not too big to get personal service, but big enough for all the extras you expect from a big hotel.  Oh...and the Inspira breakfast is the perfect start to the day! Highly recommended and we are definitely going back...
