Now might be the time to start thinking about a quick getaway in the beautiful spring months, so below we've pulled together some ideas to help you make that escape.

There are also some links to blogs published on the Further Afield site over the last couple of months. By the way, to hear about these as soon as they’re published make sure you like our Facebook page.

Trips in the UK

The UK in spring is a lovely, lovely place whatever the weather throws at you.
Here are a few of our UK based properties to get you started:

Fasbourn Hall

Fasbourn Hall, Suffolk (B&B)

In stunning Suffolk gardens sits this lovely moated manor house. The house and grounds are full of places to hide away, but there's masses on the doorstep too, with Lavenham just down the road.

The Bell

The Bell, E. Sussex (Boutique Hotel)

Think traditional village pub. And then don’t! The Bell has lots of the charm and services you’d expect in your favourite local, but with the funky and eclectic charm that takes this place to the next level. Fun!

One Gidleigh Park

One Gidleigh Park, Devon (self-catering)

South to Devon and the chance to lose yourself in this woodland gem, beautifully designed to make the most of its stunning setting. But when you’re ready to re-enter society, pop down to Chagford – and then head back to that woodburner

94DR, Edinburgh (B&B)

If you’ve a taste for something more urban, how about north of the border in wonderful Edinburgh. A stunning and vibrant city, home to this lovely guest house where great service is matched with stylish interiors. Smashing.

A bit of Euro-chic?

For an injection of city chic, the Further Afield collection includes some great city pads from which to experience of some of Europe’s fabulous cities.

Velona's Jungle
Coral del Rey

Florence – Velona’s Jungle Suites
The timeless elegance of Florence makes it a perfect city break whatever time of year, but heading there before the summer heat makes it an easier place to navigate on foot. Head to Veronica's beautiful home, a stylish sanctuary in the heart of the city.

Bordeaux – L’Arene
This jaunty B&B in the middle of vibrant Bordeaux is an excellent base for making the most of this city – Lonely Planet’s city of the year 2017. If there’s a group of you take the whole place for an extra special trip.

Seville – Corral del Rey
The historic town houses that make up the beautiful Corral del Rey are smack in the centre of stunning Seville. Wander the cobbled streets, partake of some tapas and head back to the pool if the sun’s out.

Sun seeker?

Feeling like your vitamin D levels need a boost? Whilst the weather isn’t 100% guaranteed, here’s some ideas for where to head if you’re after a bit of sun before the summer.

Casita Amanacer
Coral del Rey

Lanzarote - Casita Amanacer
Tucked away in the owner’s garden in the midst of the stunning volcanic landscape of inland Lanzarote, you can escape the crowds and explore the lesser known sites. Teguise is a big favourite of ours and feels a million miles away from the tourist meccas on the coast.

Just across the straits from Africa, with stunning scenery, often balmy spring weather and cities crammed full of culture, this part of Spain is a great spring destination. We’ve a selection of great places to stay in the area, from boutique hotels to casitas for two.

Cyprus - Vouni Hideaway
In the heartland of Cyprus’ wine region, think about escaping to the Vouni hideaway. It’s a beautiful stone house with its own pool to soak up the rays. It’s secluded, but still only an hour from the airport.
